DEPOT LEVEL REPAIRABLE ITEM
DLR Labels are also known as Depot Level Repairable and have a permanent pressurized adhesive backing and are used when condemnation should be used at the depot level. These labels are sold in rolls of 500 or individually, and are used on items that may also be repaired at the organizational or intermediate level as determined by the assigned SM&R code.
Depot level maintenance is performed on material requiring major overhaul or complete rebuild of parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and end items, including the manufacturing of parts, modification, testing and reclamation, as required. Each military service manages and operates it’s own organic depot-level maintenance infrastructure.
PURPOSE
Several management programs for repairable items have been established to maintain control and to make sure unserviceable components are repaired in a timely manner. The primary objective is improved readiness through the return of all repairable components to the operating forces with the least expenditure of material manpower and money.
The scope of the program is virtually unlimited since it ranges in depth from minute adjustment to complete repair of selected components. The program encompasses those functions performed by the levels of maintenance during the overhaul, repair, check, test, certification, modification or manufacturing process.
