The Meat & Potatoes of Our Business are Sometimes, Potatoes: Frites Street

When I started MAC Packaging back in 1976 my initial interest and concentration was on MIL-SPEC Packaging. I had just finished college and was relying on my summer work experience at a company in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania that packaged products and prepared Military Specification shipments. It was my belief in starting a business that if I gave each client better service by paying meticulous attention to detail, I might be able to build a reputation in the industry that would last.

If we fast forward to the present day some 44 years later, that is exactly what happened, and then some. While we have carved out a reputation as a leader in the MIL-SPEC industry as I set out to do from day one, our company and business partnerships have expanded into much more than I initially thought it would. This has not only been a blessing for our company, but it has led to many long-term and unexpected business relationships, that do not involve government contracts.

Looking back made me realize that sometimes what we do not initially expect leads to great things, in this case partnerships with amazing people I never initially expected to provide services for. What started as a few small commercial packaging jobs decades ago has grown into over 250 clients throughout North America today. And over that time frame, we have packed and shipped just about everything imaginable for these clients, and had a great time doing it.

Thinking about all the great things that have happened over the 40 plus years we have been in business, I am most grateful for and appreciative of the many long-term business partnerships and friendships that have developed. Sometimes we end up working with and offering shipping solutions to companies that I would have never imagined when I was starting out. That was again the case recently, when in 2017 we became business partners to provide packaging materials to Frites Street.

One of the best things about developing new partnerships is watching and being a part of their growth. We are located in Tempe, Arizona, and Frites Street is a local company that was started in 2014 by Phoenix native Filip (Flip) Isard. When Filip entered the potato business, he was a small business that started off as a local food truck specializing in french fries. The truck toured the streets for several years before eventually transitioning to the national potato supplier it is today.

This business expansion took place in 2016, when the decision was made to offer their potato products locally in Phoenix. When word spread through the local chefs and food enthusiasts of the amazing taste and quality, both a local and national market emerged. In 2017 MAC Packaging teamed up with Frites Streets to provide custom shipping boxes to ship their popular products to the many restaurants and food chains that wanted them.

Today, Frites Street is a supplier of potato products for the entire United States with 101 locations and counting. What started off as a small business in 2014 is now the big potato! Their gourmet potato products are now nationally known for their quality and taste. Made by chefs for chefs is a slogan they use to describe their three-step preparation process. After being cut to size they are soaked in brine for 24 hours, then transferred to an oil blanch to lock the flavor inside.

At MAC Packaging our job is to safely and quickly make these frozen fries arrive at your door, so you can drop them in your fryer and enjoy them. If you have never had a thick cut, double-fried french fry, it is time to take it to the next level. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender in the center, and available in four different sizes. But don’t take my word for it, order your own homemade french fries at https://www.fritesstreet.com/shop. At MAC Packaging we will ensure that your order makes it to you safely, with the fastest delivery time, and less expensively than you can ship it yourself.
